Culture - Shopping JK Iguatemi

Through its Art Program, JK Iguatemi presents its visitors with the highest level of cohesively curated work from international and Brazilian artists. The selection includes pieces by Marepe, Jeppe Hein, Marine Hugonnier, Rirkrit Tiravanija and soon, Chiara Banfi.

Whether engaging in a dialogue with the surrounding architecture (Jeppe Hein’s “3- Dimensional Circle Illuminated”), looking at natural elements strictly through science (Marine Huggonier’s “ITCZ series”), or transforming materials from everyday life into precious-looking objects (Rirkrit Tiravanija’s “Untitled (the future will be chrome)”, Marepe's "Pinheiros", Chiara Banfi's "Sunburts" series), the artworks selected for the launch of the project all share a playful quality and call for interaction with the public. As the program moves past its initial launch, JK Iguatemi will invite artists to create site-specific public art pieces and work on further acquisitions.

This cultural initiative continues Iguatemi’s dedication to supporting contemporary art and providing access to celebrated artists and their works. Devoted to creating ways for individuals to create a personal dialogue with various artistic mediums and showing their importance as a contemporary cultural expression, Iguatemi sponsors projects such as the São Paulo Biennale, Iguatemi Photo Series, SPArte & SPArte/Foto, as well as donates regularly to Pinacoteca do Estado and to MAM (Museu de Arte Moderna).
